The Barton Dance & Drama Academy offer a wide range of dance classes taught by fully qualified and dedicated teachers across North Wales

HISTORY

The Barton Dance and Drama Academy was formed in 1990 by Helen Barton, the principal of the academy. Since then the academy has grown into a highly successful school and has achieved many accolades.

The students have performed at ‘Her Majesties Theatre’, ‘Sadlers Wells’, ‘The London Palladium’, ‘Manchester Opera House’, ‘The Albert Hall’, ‘Disneyland Paris’ and ‘Walt Disney World, Florida’.

There have been many successes in competitions including two finalists in the prestigious Janet Cram

and Star Tap Awards. There have also been finalists

in the McDonalds ‘Search for a Star’ competition held

in Leeds. Students have also brought home many

trophies and medals from the Deeside Festival.

Exams are held each term, in each of the

six ISTD subjects offered at the school,

always with high standards achieved.

The school has appeared on television many times

with the Welsh S4C program ‘Uned 5’. Performers have

also taken part in special episodes of ‘Mas Draw’

and the BBC program ‘See Hear Saturday’.

The Barton Dance & Drama Academy have performed

at many local events raising funds for charities

including the NSPCC and Meningitis Cymru.

Former pupils of the school have gone on to train at prestigious dance and drama colleges including

The Bird College, Arts Educational, LIPA,

Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts,

Liverpool Theatre School and

Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre.
